7th Edition Bayern Youth Cup Nigeria Kicks Off In Lagos

It is another exciting opportunity for young footballers as the annual Bayern Youth Cup Nigeria kicked off today in Lagos with 12 participating teams.

Head of International Youth Programs, Bayern Munich FC Lars Weichert and Bayern FC Legend, Diego Contento are on ground for the program that will climax on Saturday, June 21, 2025.

This is the first visit of Diego Contento who played with David Alaba and also won the champions league to Nigeria.

While Lars Weichert visited Nigeria 4 times and has been instrumental in setting up the Bayern pathway that includes Bayern camps, Bayern Youth Cup, Bayern Global Academy and the Bayern World Squad.

The program began with training sessions for the young lads to have a first feel of their level.

Tomorrow there will be a press conference and group stages with the 12 participating teams.

Speaking to Newspathfinder, the Head, Bayern Youth Cup Nigeria, Mr Victor Edeh said, “These projects have helped Nigeria produce professional footballers like Victor Orakpo, Daniel Francis and David Emmanuel. We are excited to work with talented young players and help them achieve their football dreams”.

The program in it’s seventh edition is holding at Inspire Sports Complex (Nitel Pitch), Lagos
