Senior Special Assistant on Grassroots Sports Development to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Mr Adeboye Adeyinka, has congratulated former Edo state Deputy Governor, Mr Phillip Shaibu on his appointment as the new Director-General of the National Institute for Sports (NIS).
Mr Adeyinka praised Shaibu’s remarkable achievements in sports development, particularly his transformative work in Edo State as Deputy Governor.
“Without mincing words, Comrade Phillip Shaibu deserves this big appointment. His antecedents and genuine commitment to sports development have proven that he has the capacity and capability to head and take the NIS to greater heights.”
Mr Adeyinka noted that Shaibu is a well-known figure in Nigeria’s sports industry and expressed confidence that he will bring his expertise to the fore in his new role.
“I know he will align with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope agenda and drive the NIS to achieve its goals”.
Shaibu takes over from Prof. Olawale Moronkola with immediate effect and is expected to initiate reforms to reposition the NIS and take it to new heights.
