Ogun 2024: Team Rivers Optimistic For Tournament Trophy

Team Rivers camp in Ogun State is bubbling as athletes are excited with renewed vigour and optimistic to win the 22nd National Sports Festival ( NSF) holding in Ogun State tagged” Gates Games Ogun 2024″.

This excitement followed the State Sole administrator Vice Admiral Ibok Ete Ibas (retired) promised made that any athlete that won gold medal will pocket N2m and N1m for silver and while bronze goes with N500,000.

It is like stating the obvious that this is the first time the State government has made such huge promise, consequently, this has inspired and motivated the athletes and coaches to put extra energy and commitment to ensure that they win the festival.

Team Rivers landed Ogun State with 312 athletes, 70 coaches and participating in 32 sporting events in the sports festival.

Earlier the Director of Administration in Rivers State ministry Sports, Mrs Ibiwari Wokoma urge athletes to win medals, saying that every logistics and arrangements have been put in place to enable them to perform impressively.

She reiterated that welfare of athletes have been the primary responsibility of the Sports ministry.

“I want to say that as we are here in Ogun State for the sports festival we are not just going to compete but we are sure to win.

This is because our athletes (Teams Rivers) are are fully prepared” she said.
