The Chairman of the Anambra Football Association, Chikelue Iloenyosi, has paid tribute to the late Christian Chukwu, describing him as a true football legend.

Chief Iloenyosi, a former international player who played under Chukwu, recalled a visit he made to Chukwu three weeks before his passing.

“I am happy l visited him three weeks before he died and he told me a lot of things and advised me on what to do to bring football in Anambra state to an enviable height”, he recalled.

During their meeting, Iloenyosi recalled that Chukwu expressed happiness about the current state of football in Anambra and advised him to engage with former players in the state to make Anambra a hub of football in Nigeria again.

The FA Chairman praised Chukwu’s qualities as a player and coach, noting that his dedication and passion for the game served as an inspiration to many.

On behalf of the football fraternity in Anambra, Iloenyosi wished Chukwu eternal rest, describing him as an exceptional player who left an indelible mark on Nigerian football. “Adieu, great one. May your soul rest in peace,” he prayed.
