Nigeria Customs Service Women`s Basketball team could not hold on to their lead as they suffered an agonizing defeat in the hands of arch rivals Mountain of Fire Ministries in a 57-53 basket points inside the SKD Gymnasium Paynesville indoor hall Liberia.

The coming into the game as defending champions against the Nigeria champion, the Border Girls handled by coach Abdulrahman Mohammed started brightly and kept working hard to take the first quarter at 10-9 points.

Resuming into the second quarter, it was the Olukoya girls with coach Ochuko Owolabi leading the team who came into the game better forcing the Customs team to making some forced errors and allowing them to come back to score basket points of 17 to Nigeria Customs 11 to end the second quarter 26-21 going into the break.

The third quarter was a light of fire for the Adewale Adeniyi`s ladies who knows what is at stake, went all out in the game as they recovered their earlier deficits to increase their score to four points netting 22pts to 13 of the Olukoya ladies to win the third quarter at 43-39points.

The final quarter was more of a battle than the game itself as the Customs shot high leading the game with about 6 points in to the last 2 mins of the game but couldn’t manage the game plan very well as MFM ladies rallied back with 2 pointers shot to reduced the score 2 causing the game into an heated arena.

With just 20sec left on the clock, HembamWandoo dropped a 3point show to the shock of the Customs ladies and put her team 1 pts ahead 53-54 and throw some panic moment into the Customs ladies who then had more injuries to their pain by causing 2 more errors that allowed the MFM ladies 4 free throws and manage to convert 3 points to end the game at 57-53 points.

With this, Mountain of Fire Ministries basketball team have picked a place for the African Women`s Basketball finals schedule for Dakar Senegal later this year.
