A distinguished gathering of Nigeria’s elite assembled for a Post Convocation Dinner at Jake’s Restaurant, Silverbird Galleria, Abuja, to honor the renowned business magnate and philanthropist, Sir Dr. Emeka Offor, and his wife, Dr. Mrs. Adaora Offor. The evening was marked by elegance, endowments, and heartfelt tributes.

The highlight of the event was the presentation of a bank draft and endowment award letter by the Sir Emeka Offor Foundation, amounting to N50 million for the Faculty of Social Sciences at Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka. This endowment, named Sir Emeka Offor Foundation Endowment Fund Number-1, was established by Dr. Mrs. Adaora Offor, Vice President of the Foundation, in conjunction with her receipt of an honorary doctorate in Social Advocacy from the university.

During the announcement of the endowment terms, Chike Epelle Esq explained the purpose of the funds:

“This endowment aims to enhance research activities and academic endeavors within the faculty. The focus areas for research should include women, children, widows, children with special needs, and other vulnerable groups.”

Prof. Frank-Collins Okafor, Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences at Nnamdi Azikiwe University, expressed his gratitude on behalf of the institution, assuring that the funds would be utilized as specified by the endowment.

In a heartfelt vote of thanks, Sir Dr. Emeka Offor shared his appreciation:

“I am deeply thankful to everyone who honored us today. This dinner was organized by friends who have embraced me as one of their own. While I did have some expectation, God’s generosity continues to amaze me, and for that, I am profoundly grateful.”

Sir Dr. Emeka Offor also recounted his survival of three plane crashes between 2006 and 2008, emphasizing his commitment to giving back and striving for justice. “I had to share this because I am determined to continue giving back to God. I will always do my best and fight for justice. Sometimes I act out of emotion, but I always strive to make amends and stay true to my creator.”

The event was graced by several notable figures, including former Deputy Governor Dr. Nkem Okeke, immediate past Vice-Chancellor Professor Charles Esimone, FAS, former Vice-Chancellor Professor Joseph Ahaneku, and internal Council member Professor Harry Obi-Nwosu, among others.
