As the run for the 2023/24 NPFL league gets to it’s crescendo, Enyimba’s Bernard Ovoke couldn’t have chosen the right time to impress the club’s darling fans.

The petit play maker who joined the defending Champions in mid season from Kwara United helped the Aba giants to earn a precious 3 away points against their sister side, Abia Warriors in an NPFL Oriental Derby in Umuahia to further boost their push to defend their title.

Ovoke’s 72nd minute sublime finish was all the 9 -time league champions needed to beat their neighbors right in front of their fans.

Reacting to Enyimba Madia shortly after the encounter, Ovoke couldn’t hide his excitement saying he feels so great after scoring his first goal for People’s Elephant’.

“I feel so great for helping the team, this is my first goal for the team and I am so happy”, the former Afonja Warrior player said.

Enyimba with the victory is now placed second with 56 points on log behind league leaders, Rangers Int’l who have 60 points(this is following the deducted points).

The People’s Elephant’ will next play Rivers United on Sunday at the Enyimba Int’l Stadium, Aba as they continue to push to retain their title.
