Africana International Troupe Visits UNIZIK Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Esimone

Africana International Troupe (AIT) UNIZIK Chapter on Thursday, 4th April 2024 paid a courtesy visit to Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Charles Esimone.

The visit was to inform UNIZIK VC of their upcoming event in commemoration of their 27th anniversary and to solicit the support of the institution’s Chief Executive towards the success of the programme.

In his remarks, President and Founder of the AIT, Prof. Oby Okonkwo thanked Prof. Esimone for finding time to host the group despite his busy schedule. Prof. Okonkwo informed that the socio-cultural group recently clocked 27 and would be celebrating the 27th anniversary on Friday, 12th April 2024 at the institution’s AIT Garden.

The Professor of Human Kinetics and Sports Medicine disclosed that the AIT has branches across the globe both in Ghana, Sierra Leone and also at the Dominican University in Chicago, USA. The scholar solicited the support from UNIZIK VC and expressed hope that the group will soon have a socio-cultural garden in the institution.

Responding, UNIZIK Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Charles Esimone, FAS, informed that he is elated with activities of the group stating that very few entertainment group the world over showcases an entertainment blend which is unique promoting cultural values and heritage.

Prof. Esimone disclosed that he is a lover of culture which goes back to his days as an undergraduate student. The VC encouraged students of the institution to endeavour to identify with the AIT in order to sustain the values and ensure the continuous growth and longevity of the socio-cultural group. He pledged his continuous support for the AIT in all their activities and programmes.
