Saga Legacy Launches Epe Academy To Bridge Education And Professional Football

Saga Legacy Football Academy has officially launched its operations, establishing a fresh standard for youth sports by explicitly linking elite football development with formal education.

The academy was formally unveiled at the Eagles Club, Surulere, Lagos, on Friday, November 6, 2026, with its primary training base strategically located in Epe, Lagos State.

Speaking at the launch, the Chairman of Saga Legacy Nigeria Limited, Mojeed Adegbindin, explained that the institution was created to solve a major dilemma for families: the long-standing fear that pursuing a professional football career requires abandoning education. By integrating academic learning into the daily structure of the academy, young players will be able to hone their athletic skills without sacrificing their schooling.

> “We want to allay the fears of parents who may think that if their children play for us, they will have to abandon their education. They will continue their education while developing their football careers,” Adegbindin stated.

He further emphasized that players who successfully complete the academy’s program and aspire to pursue higher education will receive full institutional support. Beyond academics, Adegbindin stressed that the academy aims to cultivate a robust football culture built on technical proficiency, discipline, and strong personal values essential for long-term professional success.

To ensure top-tier training, the academy subjected its technical personnel to a rigorous screening process overseen by experienced professionals. Adegbindin highlighted the deep pool of expertise driving the technical setup, including a coaching staff member who famously captained Lagos State’s gold-winning football team at the 2012 National Sports Festival.

He also acknowledged the vital contributions of his business partner, Paul Carlson, alongside Mr. Radar—an elite football development veteran with an extensive international background coaching Norway’s national youth teams (including the U-15 level), managing Molde, and serving in various sporting director capacities. Mr. Radar notably played a direct role in the meticulous screening exercise used to select the academy’s coaching staff.

Anchored in Epe, Saga Legacy Football Academy aims to build a comprehensive developmental pathway that equips young talents for professional football careers while ensuring they possess the solid educational foundation and personal discipline required for life after sports.
