CAF Competitions: Adeboye Rallies Ogun Fans To Support Rangers, El-Kanemi Warriors

Senior Special Adviser to the President on Grassroots Sports Development, Adeboye Anthony Adeyinka, has called on football fans in Ogun State to turn out in large numbers to support Rangers International and El-Kanemi Warriors in their CAF inter-club competitions holding in the state.

Nigeria’s champions, Rangers International of Enugu, will on Sunday, October 18, 2026, face MC Alger of Algeria in the CAF Champions League second round preliminary match at the MKO Abiola Stadium, Abeokuta, while El-Kanemi Warriors will on the same day take on Raja Club Athletic of Morocco in their second preliminary round match of the CAF Confederation Cup.

Speaking on the two encounters, Adeboye noted that although both teams are playing away from their home bases, they remain Nigerian representatives on the continent and deserve massive support to secure positive results ahead of the decisive return legs in North Africa next week.

“I want to appeal to football fans in Ogun State to come out in their numbers and cheer the two teams to victory. They’re carrying Nigerian flags to the continental competitions and a victory for them is a victory for the whole country, and that’s why it’s necessary they get all the desired support, encouragement and solidarity to post a good result,” he said.

Adeboye expressed confidence in the ability of both teams to get favourable results against their North African opponents, insisting they possess the quality to win and make the second leg ties a mere formality.
