Newly elected President of the Nigeria Basketball Federation [NBBF], Dr. Abdulahi Mustapha, has promised a new era of progress, transparency and accountability for Nigerian basketball.
Dr. Mustapha made the pledge in his acceptance speech shortly after his election, assuring players, stakeholders and fans that his administration will elevate the sport and uphold public trust.
According to him, the new board will not start afresh but will consolidate on existing gains while striving to surpass previous achievements.
“We are not starting afresh; we are here to consolidate. We will do better than the former boss. We will make Nigerians proud,” he said.
He noted that leading the federation is a sacred responsibility that demands integrity, dedication and high standards of governance.
“It is a public trust that we must respect. We won’t let you down,” he assured.
Dr. Mustapha outlined his administration’s focus to include sustainable development of the game, strengthening domestic leagues, deepening grassroots basketball and enhancing Nigeria’s competitiveness at continental and global levels.
The NBBF board also thanked delegates, members of the basketball community and media partners for their support, urging all stakeholders to unite to move the game forward.
