Ahudiyannem Boss, Dr. Onyeani Charges Players To Announce Arrival With Win Over Rivers Angels

The Chairman/Founder of Ahudiyannem Queens Football Club, Dr. Robert Onyeani, has charged his players to maintain their winning momentum as they face big-name Rivers Angels in the ongoing 2nd Governor Douye Diri Pre-Season Tournament in Yenagoa.

Ahudiyannem Queens, new entrants into the Nigeria Women Football League Premiership for the 2026/2027 season, have been the revelation of the tournament so far.

The Abia-based side are in firm control of Group B, having won all three matches played — a 1-0 win over Nasarawa Amazons on October 2, a 2-1 victory against Remo Stars Ladies on October 3, and a commanding 3-0 win over Rangers Women on October 5. The team has scored six goals and conceded just one to sit top of the group with nine points, five points clear of second-placed Nasarawa Amazons, having had a bye on Matchday Four.

Speaking to the players on Thursday morning via zoom ahead of the crucial fixture against Rivers Angels at the Samson Siasia Stadium, Dr. Onyeani said victory would send a strong statement to the rest of the league.

“We have to win. Ensure you maintain the winning streak. Winning will put fear in the opponents camp and set the records straight and announce our arrival. I want my girls to be happy and I will ensure that you are happy”,

“After today, you have two more matches to win the tournament. Nothing should stop you. Don’t compromise anything, don’t say because you have qualified. That we have qualified should not deter you”,

“Sell yourselves to the world. People are asking where did these girls come from, answer them with victories”, he charged

The clash against Rivers Angels, former NWFL champions, scheduled for 3pm today at the Samson Siasia Stadium, will be Ahudiyannem’s biggest test yet in the tournament which features 10 teams.

Head Coach of the side, Nnah Nwaneri Adanna, had earlier commended the organizers for the well-packaged tournament, noting that it has provided a good platform to assess the team’s readiness for the premiership despite being debutants.
