Onitsha-based boxer, Michael Kosisochukwu Ani, will be aiming for the biggest win of his professional career when he steps into the ring against Riliwanu ‘Babyface’ Babatunde this Saturday in Lagos.
The bout, a National Super-Welterweight Challenge over 8 rounds, is one of the headline fights on the De Lad’s Boxing Promotion “Battle of the Ages 14.0” fight card slated for the Indoor Sports Hall of the National Stadium, Surulere, Lagos.
The event, which is powered by Bet9ja and sanctioned by the World Boxing Association (WBA) and the Nigerian Boxing Board of Control (NBBofC), will start at 5pm on Saturday, September 26.
Ani, a former National Welterweight title challenger who fights out of Onitsha, heads into the contest with a record of 4 fights, 3 wins and 1 loss, and will be looking to make a strong statement against the more experienced Babatunde.
The “Battle of the Ages 14.0” promises to be a stacked night of boxing, with other exciting pairings including Kelvin Power vs Viper, Ahmed vs Oyakojo, Saheed vs Osoba, Arowolo Azeem vs Azeem, and Uzoukwu vs Chimaobi.
Veteran ring announcer, Ralph Chidozie-George, will be on the microphone to add colour to the night.
All eyes will be on the Indoor Sports Hall on Saturday to see if Ani can upset Babyface and announce himself as a new force in Nigeria’s super-welterweight division.
