Head coach Ryan Masajedi says Nigeria must focus on their own game plan and exploit Morocco’s weaknesses when both sides meet in the quarter-finals of the 2026 CAVB Men’s African Nations Volleyball Championship in Tunis, Tunisia.
Masajedi said he watched Morocco’s Round of 16 victory with his players, where the North Africans recovered from significant deficits to beat their opponents 3-0, with scores of 25-20, 25-21, 29-27.
“We watched the game with the players today and saw their weaknesses and their strengths. They understand volleyball, they play with a system and they are consistent,” Masajedi said.
“Even in today’s game, there were so many points when they were behind, but they came back and eventually won 3-0.”
The Nigeria coach believes the serve will be crucial to his team’s chances of progressing, noting that Morocco struggle with reception.
“I think the serve is very important for us. They have a problem with their reception. If we make good serves, some good blocks, good defence and win the break points, we have a big chance to get the better of them,” he added.
Nigeria are billed to face Morocco in the quarter-finals as they continue their quest for a place in the semi-finals of the continental championship.
