The Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) chapter has called on media professionals to engage in sporting activity to enhance their physical and mental well-being.
Chimezie Anaso, Chairman of SWAN in Anambra made the call while speaking on the forthcoming maiden SWAN Sports Week on Monday.
The Sports Week which had the theme “Sports for Peace and Economic Empowerment” is scheduled to hold at Cosmilla Hotel Sports Arena Aug. 20 and Aug. 21.
The event would feature 5-Aside football competition, Table Tennis, Ludo and Draught.
Anaso said the sports week is designed to promote physical fitness, mental alertness and healthy relaxation among journalists and members of other organisations who would be participating in the event.
“The 2026 SWAN Sports Week is to provide an opportunity for media practitioners, especially sports journalists, to celebrate themselves after a long period of reporting and celebrating others.
“On the first day, we are going to compete in table tennis, ludo, and draw between SWAN members and our friends and on the second day, we will step it up to 5-Aside cage football medley.
“We want to specially appreciate our major partners, Cosmilla Hotel and Suites Sports Arena Awka, for providing the best facilities and environment for this sporting engagement.
“It will be the first and best of its kind because we have not had such in Anambra,” he said.
The SWAN chairman called on lovers of sports, friends of the media and prospective partners to avail themselves the opportunity to enjoy good sports and promote their brands.
