Savannah Tigers, Doma United, continued their dominant run at the 2026 Ifeanyi Ekwueme TICO SELECT Pre-season Tournament, whitewashing former champions Great Achievers 3-0 on Day 2 in Enugu.
The NPFL side stamped their authority early, scoring once in the first half and adding two more after the break. For 30 minutes, Great Achievers pushed forward and probed, but once Doma United identified the gaps in their defence, the game was over.
With the win, Doma United remain unbeaten and continue to look like the team to beat in the tournament.
All eyes will now be on the next round of fixtures to see which side can match their class or break their aura of invincibility.
In other results, Ingas FC and Abakaliki Elite played out a goalless draw, while the match between Elite and U.C Diamond was abandoned due to a heavy downpour.
C&C Football Academy of Awo-Omamma also had a busy day. The “Chief Boys” were held to a 1-1 draw by NLO 1 side Igho FC of Delta State.
Chika Chika gave C&C the lead in the 14th minute with a spectacular volley. The academy dominated for long spells but missed several chances to extend the lead. They were made to pay in the 70th minute when Igho FC grabbed the equaliser.
Despite dropping points, C&C showed strong potential and will look to improve in subsequent games.
Following the match, tournament organisers presented official match balls to C&C Academy. The items were received by Team Manager, Mr. Amanfor Chimezie, a former Enyimba and Rangers star who won back-to-back Federation Cups in 2013 and 2014, and NPFL titles in 2015 and 2016.
Mr Chimezie commended the Local Organising Committee for maintaining high standards despite late withdrawals by some teams.
“I want to appreciate the organizers for giving our academy this rare opportunity to rub shoulders with the big boys,” he said. “We are hoping for even better outings as the tournament progresses. Thank you, and God bless everyone working tirelessly to develop football in Nigeria.”
