The appointment of Distinguished Senator Lilian Uche Ekwunife CON as the 2027 All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Primary Election Coordinator and Collator for Anambra State represents a major political development within the ruling party and a strong vote of confidence in her leadership capacity by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the national leadership of the APC.

The strategic responsibility entrusted to Senator Ekwunife is not merely ceremonial. It reflects the growing recognition of her political influence, grassroots mobilization strength, administrative competence, and unwavering commitment to the consolidation of the APC in Anambra State and the South-East region.

Her emergence in such a sensitive and nationally significant role signals the party’s determination to strengthen its structures ahead of the 2027 general elections.

This appointment gains added significance when linked to Senator Ekwunife’s recent honour of signing the nomination and expression of interest forms for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the APC flag bearer for the 2027 presidential election. This symbolic act, performed alongside other party leaders, demonstrated her deep personal commitment and positioned her as one of the early endorsers of the President’s second-term bid.

Senator Ekwunife’s appointment is a reflection of the increasing trust and confidence reposed in her by the President and the APC leadership. Over the years, she has distinguished herself as a courageous, pragmatic, and result-oriented political figure with extensive legislative experience and proven organizational ability.

Having served in both the House of Representatives and the Senate, Senator Ekwunife has consistently demonstrated exceptional political dexterity, coalition-building capacity, and grassroots connectivity. Her experience in national politics places her among the few female political leaders in Nigeria with deep institutional understanding of governance, party administration, and electoral coordination. Her recent political engagements and public endorsements of President Tinubu’s leadership have further reinforced her standing within the APC. Senator Ekwunife has repeatedly described President Tinubu as the most formidable candidate for the 2027 election and has maintained that Nigeria remains on a path of economic recovery and institutional reform under his administration.

In Anambra State, she has continued to champion party unity, membership mobilization, and grassroots expansion. Her role in convening APC stakeholders’ meetings and driving the party’s electronic membership registration exercise demonstrated her commitment to strengthening the APC’s political infrastructure in the South-East.

As Presidential Primary Election Coordinator and Collator for Anambra State, Senator Ekwunife is expected to provide strategic leadership, ensure transparent coordination of party processes, mobilize delegates and stakeholders, and deepen support for President Tinubu across the state. Her political maturity, communication skills, and ability to unify divergent interests make her particularly suited for such a role.

Importantly, her appointment also reinforces the growing inclusion of experienced female leaders in the APC’s national political framework. Senator Ekwunife has consistently shown resilience, discipline, loyalty, and political sophistication—qualities that are essential in strengthening the President Tinubu-led National Executive Council and consolidating the party ahead of the 2027 elections.

Beyond Anambra State, her emergence sends a broader message about the APC’s commitment to competence, inclusivity, and strategic leadership. It underscores the recognition that experienced political figures with grassroots appeal remain critical to the success of the party’s national objectives.

As the APC prepares for another defining electoral cycle, Distinguished Senator Uche Ekwunife brings a wealth of experience and exceptional qualities that make her ideally suited for this assignment and for contributing meaningfully to the broader success of the Tinubu National Executive Council and the APC’s 2027 agenda.
