The Nigerian Optometric Association (NOA) has nominated the Vice Chancellor of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Prof. Ugochukwu Anyaehie, for its Honorary Fellowship.

Chairman of NOA’s Education Committee, Dr. Augustine Ugochukwu Akujobi, announced the nomination during a courtesy visit to the Vice Chancellor on Wednesday, 13th May 2026.

During the visit, Dr. Akujobi presented the nomination letter and an invitation to the association’s upcoming Annual Scientific Conference and Vision Expo, held in collaboration with the African Council of Optometry (AFCO).

He said the honour recognizes Prof. Anyaehie’s distinguished contributions to academic and institutional development, and commended his administrative reforms and innovations at UNIZIK within months of assuming office.

Receiving the delegation, the Vice Chancellor thanked the association for the honour and invitation. He reaffirmed UNIZIK’s commitment to supporting professional bodies and advancing collaborations in healthcare.

The conference and award ceremony will take place from Wednesday, 29th July, to Saturday, 1st August, 2026, at the Nicon Luxury Hotel, Abuja.
