Chief Chikelue Iloenyosi, ANSFA Board Chairman has expressed his gratitude to the Anambra State Governor, Prof Charles Soludo, for fostering a conducive environment for sports development in the state.

This appreciation was conveyed during his opening remarks at the recently concluded Annual General Assembly of the Anambra Football Association, held on Friday, February 6th, 2026, at the East End Hotel, Awka.

Chief Iloenyosi, former Super Eagles defender, highlighted his administration’s achievements, including initiating the All Stars Football Competition to promote unity among retired footballers and enthusiasts, and organizing football scouting programs for young players under 17, which attracted National U-17 Team, Golden Eaglets Head Coach, Manu Garba, to the state.

“Under my watch, the Anambra State Football Association, ANSFA, kick-started the Anambra State Football League, a feat that had not been achieved in the past 30 years”.

“That’s not all. The Anambra FA under my watch, has continued to ensure that our stakeholders capacities are developed and serve as Match Commissioners and referees in all the nation’s football leagues — NPFL and NNL — providing them opportunities to grow and develop”.

Iloenyosi emphasized that these accomplishments were made possible by Governor Soludo’s supportive environment, saying, ”

The ANSFA Chairman thanked key stakeholders, including NFF President Alhaji Ibrahim Musa Gusau, and appreciated High Chief Jim Martins Nwabueze for sponsoring the Anambra State Football League.

He also acknowledged the support of Prof Poly Emenike, CEO Neros Pharmaceuticals Ltd, and other football enthusiasts.

The Annual General Assembly unanimously passed a vote of confidence in Chief Iloenyosi’s leadership, praising his exemplary stewardship in advancing football in Anambra State.

The AGA also ratified the 5-year suspension of two stakeholders, Chijioke Onyedika and Barrister Iyke Igbokwe, and approved the FA’s 2026 budget.

The Assembly commended Governor Soludo’s re-election and thanked him for including football in the ‘Onwa Dezemba’ Yueltide celebrations. It also appreciated the Nigeria Football Federation, led by Alh. Ibrahim Gusau, for promoting football growth in Nigeria.
