Bayelsa State’s Commissioner for Sports Development, Honourable Daniel Igali, has convened a technical meeting with coaches, secretaries, and management staff of the State Sports Council.

The meeting is part of preparations for the 2nd edition of the Niger Delta Games, scheduled to take place in Benin, Edo State.

According to Igali, the meeting which took place at the Indoor Sports Hall of the Samson Siasia Stadium, on Friday, was to ascertain the level of preparedness of the Sports participating in the Niger Delta Games, stressing that for Bayelsa State to defend its title, all weights must be on ground.

Igali emphasized the need for sustained hard work to ensure the state’s success in the games.

He noted that Bayelsa State Governor, His Excellency Senator Douye Diri, had a discussion with him and made it known that the only position left for Bayelsa is to remain first.

The commissioner hinged the technical meeting on the above statement of the Bayelsa State Governor, Sen. Douye Diri, who has committed to sports development through adequate funding

“The directive of the Governor in a brief discussion we had was that we are the Champions and we should remain the champions. So, we must ensure the statement of His Excellency is treated with utmost seriousness and dedication.”

“Hence, this impromptu meeting to know the level of our preparations regarding athlete’s training and well-being.” Igali said.
