Former Super Eagles defender Ifeanyi Anaemena has resigned as Sporting Director of Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) side, Kun Khalifat FC.

He joined the club in July 2025 after their promotion to the top flight.

Anaemena, 33, is a three-time NPFL champion, winning titles with Enyimba (twice) and Remo Stars.

He thanked Kun Khalifat FC President Michael Amaefule for the opportunity, saying he’s grateful for the experience.

In his statement, Anaemena wished the club, fans, and players well, and said he needs rest before planning his next move. He thanked supporters and fans of the game, ending with a blessing. Anaemena played for FC Ifeanyi Ubah, Enyimba, Rivers United, Remo Stars, and had spells in Europe.

“Yes, I’ve resigned my appointment as Kun Khalifat FC Sporting Director”,

“It’s a difficult decision to take but that’s the reality of life, very dynamic and it keeps evolving.

“I will eternally remain grateful to Michael Amaefule, the President of Kun Khalifat FC, for giving me opportunity to serve the young and wonderful Kun Khalifat FC in the capacity of Sporting Director.

“Moreso, he gave me the opportunity to transit from on-field player to an administrator. I couldn’t be less thankful.

“While I wish the club success, I also wish the fans, supporters, staff and players the very best of campaign.

“I want to catch some rest for now before thinking of the next thing I do with my life. I remain grateful to all my fans, supporters and loyal fans of the club and beautiful game. God bless you all”, Anaemena prayed.

Anaemena played for FC Ifeanyi Ubah, Enyimba, Rivers United, and Remo Stars, with stints in European clubs.
