..As Anambra Selected Ex-Rangers Triumph Over Anambra All Stars

It was indeed a fun-filled day in Anambra at the Awka City Stadium as football enthusiasts gathered to watch Ex-Rangers Stars trade tackles with Anambra All Stars as part of activities in the novel Onwa Dezemba festival.

The highly anticipated match was a celebration of Anambra’s rich football history, particularly the legacy of Rangers International FC.

The novelty match between Anambra Selected Ex-Rangers and Anambra All Stars was a heartwarming and entertaining game that showcased the passion and skill of football, rather than a competition focused solely on winning. Anambra Selected Ex-Rangers emerged victorious in the Onwa December Novelty Match, defeating Anambra All Stars 4-2 in a penalty shootout after the game ended goalless in regulation time.



Governor Chukwuma Soludo, who attended the match, commended the organizers for promoting fitness and healthy living among former professional footballers.


The Governor also appreciated Chief Jim Martins Nwabueze for his support in promoting sports development in the state especially football and assured the people of his administration’s continued commitment to sports development in Anambra State.

He announced that the novelty match would become an annual event during festive periods, emphasizing the importance of football in the state

Chief Chikelue Iloenyosi, Chairman of the Anambra State Football Association, conceptualized the event with support from the President of Akubudike Foundation and MD/CEO Akubudike Energy Ltd, Chief Jim Martins Nwabueze, who donated a giant trophy for the occasion.
