Enyimba FC’s interim coach, Lawrence Ukaegbu, has declared that his team’s 3-0 victory over Oluyole Warriors will spur them on to greater heights in the second stanza of the league.

He made the declaration during the post match media chat where he said the win has boosted the team’s confidence and reignited the flame of their title chase.

“This win is a boost to our confidence, and I can assure you that we will do even better in the second phase of the league. The scores and the winning was for us to step up on the table. That’s what we planned, to step into the new year with victory, and as God may have it, we scored the desired three goals”,

“The league is just starting. We’ve just ended the first phase and Enyimba will explode in the second round. We will aim to finish very high on the log”, he said.

On Enyimba’s’s improved attacking consistency which has seen them score more goals even in away matches, coach Ukaegbu ascribed it to tactical adjustments, good planning and meticulous preparation.

“We went back to the drawing board and made some twists in our tactics and formation. We planned well and executed it to perfection. You can see that even in the away games we score goals, and we intend to consolidate on that,”  he noted.

The win, courtesy of Ufere Chinedu’s early strike in the 16th minute, Edidiong Ezekiel’s clinical finish in the 85th minute, and Chidera Michael’s late insurance goal in the 90th+6 minute, was a testament to the team’s hard work and strategic planning.

Looking ahead, Coach Ukaegbu emphasized that the team will continue to work towards their ultimate goal of finishing tops, emphasizing that Enyimba FC’s ambition to win the league is still very much alive.

With the first phase of the league behind them, the stage is set for a thrilling second phase, and Enyimba FC according to the coach Ukaegbu is poised to make a strong run-in.
