Elephant Park, the historic home ground of multiple league champions Enyimba FC, is set to buzz with excitement this weekend as the rejuvenated People’s Elephant aim to bounce back to winning ways against Kwara United.

The NPFL matchday 17 fixture is scheduled for Sunday, December 14, at 4 pm.

Enyimba, the two-time CAF Champions League winners, are under pressure to secure a win as they host the Harmony Boys.

Since 2009, both teams have clashed 23 times in the top flight, with Enyimba claiming 13 victories, Kwara United winning 8, and 3 matches ending in a draw.

Motivated by their narrow defeat to Remo Stars in Abeokuta, Enyimba captain and former Afonja Warriors defender, Paschal Eze, expressed confidence in his team’s ability to deliver maximum points.

Eze assured fans of a positive result, emphasizing the team’s determination to end the year and the first half of the season on a high note.

“First, I want to thank our loyal fans for their unwavering support. We promise them a victory on Sunday against Kwara United. The spirit in camp is high, and the boys understand what is at stake. We want to put smiles on our fans’ faces, so we urge them to turn up in large numbers as they’ve always done. Their support means everything to us,” Eze said.

Coach Lawrence Ukaegbu will likely include young full-back Joel Ezra in the starting lineup, along with several players who have recently returned to training.

Ekene Awazie, Uwana Asuquo, Henry Ndedi, and Emeka Onyema are back with the squad, though some may still be working on regaining full match fitness.
