Enyimba’s Interim Coach, Ukaegbu Sets High Expectations Ahead Katsina Clash In Ilorin

Enyimba FC heads to Ilorin with renewed determination and a new leader at the helm, as interim head coach Lawrence Ukaegbu takes charge ahead of Monday’s NPFL Matchday 14 clash against Katsina United.

Dubbed a redemption fixture, the nine-time champions are looking to reclaim their form and identity under Ukaegbu, who has promised to “return the joy” to Enyimba fans starting with the showdown against the banished Chanji Boys.

Speaking to Enyimba Media before departing Aba on Friday, Ukaegbu, a former Nigeria Junior International and member of the iconic Seoul ’88 squad, expressed optimism about the team’s prospects.

“I’m excited to take over the team, and the players are equally excited. They’ve assured me of their commitment to working hard and turning the club’s fortunes around,” he said.

Known for his disciplined and modern approach, the former Iwuanyanwu Nationale midfielder believes unity and hard work will drive the team’s resurgence.

“I will bring discipline, togetherness, and friendliness to help the team move forward,” he added.

Ukaegbu also sent a heartfelt message to Enyimba’s loyal fans, vowing to restore their pride. “I promise to return their joy. Nobody should be disappointed. The team will move forward to make everyone happy,” he declared, energizing the fanbase and raising hopes for a turnaround.

Historically, Enyimba and Katsina United are evenly matched, with seven wins apiece and one draw in 15 meetings. However, the People’s Elephant enters the fixture with a renewed sense of purpose and a coach eager to inspire change.

As Enyimba takes the pitch on Monday, the stage is set for a new chapter—one built on discipline, unity, and the promise of a roaring comeback in Nigerian football.
