The Captain of Nigeria’s Senior Women’s National Team, the Super Falcons, Rasheedat Ajibade, has led her teammates in celebrating the appointment of Aisha Falode, an Executive Board Member of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), as a Member of the FIFA Standing Committee on Media and Communications.
In a message delivered on behalf of the entire Super Falcons squad, Ajibade expressed immense joy, admiration, and pride, describing Falode’s appointment as “a shining moment for Nigerian football and a powerful inspiration to women in sports across Africa.”
“I was absolutely thrilled to hear the news about your appointment to the FIFA Standing Committee, Media and Communications! Huge congratulations from all members of the Super Falcons team,” Ajibade wrote.
“What an incredible achievement and a true testament to your knowledge, commitment, and passion for the sport. We’ve always known you to be a leader and a trailblazer in the media and football space, and it’s fantastic to see that recognized on the world stage by FIFA.
We are all so proud and excited for you, ma. Wishing you all the best in this exciting new chapter.”
Ajibade, who captains the most successful women’s national teams on the African continent, the Super falcons noted that Falode’s rise to the global football stage serves as a reminder of what Nigerian women can achieve through excellence, perseverance, and service.
Aisha Falode, a respected broadcaster, journalist, and administrator, has been a tireless advocate for women’s football in Nigeria and beyond.
As Chairperson of the Nigeria Women’s Football League (NWFL), she has championed the professionalization and visibility of the women’s game, mentoring generations of young players and administrators alike.
Her appointment to the FIFA Standing Committee on Media and Communications, one of the key advisory bodies of world football’s governing institution, is seen as both a personal triumph and a national milestone. It reinforces Nigeria’s growing influence within the corridors of global football governance and highlights the country’s contribution to the development of the women’s game.
The Super Falcons’ captain concluded her message with a note of deep respect and gratitude:
“Your leadership continues to open doors for women in football, both on and off the field. You have shown us that with vision, dedication, and integrity, Nigerian women can stand tall anywhere in the world. We celebrate you, ma, and we are inspired by you.”
Aisha Falode’s appointment follows a series of recent Nigerian inclusions in FIFA and CAF committees, underscoring the country’s dynamic role in shaping the future of the global game.
