The Nigeria National League (NNL) has concluded its 15th Annual General Meeting (AGM) at the 5th Chukker Resort Limited, Maraban Jos, Kaduna State.
According to the Communique, key decisions were made during the meeting, which took place on September 16, 2025.
The 2025/2026 NNL League season is slated to kick off on November 8, 2025, with a star match featuring Lobi Stars of Makurdi against City FC of Abuja. Other matchday one fixtures will be played on November 14 and 15, 2025.
The League will adopt an abridged league format consisting of four conferences (A, B, C, and D). The top team in each conference will earn promotion to the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) a decision that ends the Super Eight format.
A new tournament format will be introduced to determine the overall league winner. Clubs that fail to participate in the Super 4 tournament will relinquish their promotion status to the second-placed team in their conference.
The AGM decided that only stadiums meeting the NNL’s facilities criteria will be approved for the upcoming season and clubs are required to submit proof of insurance cover for their players and officials as part of the registration criteria.
The Prostar/NNL branded match balls will be used exclusively in the 2025/2026 season, with sanctions imposed on home teams failing to provide official match balls.
The AGM also praised the NFF President, Alhaji Ibrahim Gusau, for his leadership and support in making the NNL a prominent league in Nigeria. A vote of explicit confidence was passed on the NNL Board, led by Chief George Aluo, for their achievements and commitment to improving the league’s standard
