The Anambra State Executive Council (ANSEC) has approved several infrastructure projects worth billions of naira, aimed at improving the lives of citizens and boosting the state’s economy.

The projects were approved during the 19th meeting of ANSEC, held on Monday September 15, 2025, at the Light House in Awka.

The approved projects include the dualization of the Ekwulobia-Ufuma Road, construction of Adili/Park Road, and construction of School Road with interlocking pavement stones at Iyiowa Odekpe, among others.

The total sum of N37,953,266,323.05 has been approved for the dualization of the Ekwulobia-Ufuma Road, while N1,402,534,336.19 has been approved for the construction of Adili/Park Road.

Other projects approved include the construction of a playground, volleyball and tennis courts, external works, and other associated structures at the Ekwulobia Stadium Complex, Aguata LGA, worth N927,048,040.67.

The government also approved the supply and installation of medical equipment at the General Hospital, Enugwu-Otu Aguleri, worth N346,563,000.00.

ANSEC has stated that no new projects will be initiated for the sake of the election season, as was the custom in the past. The council emphasized that new projects will continue to be awarded based on their strategic and economic significance, and on the areas with the highest needs.

The government has also reaffirmed its pledge not to owe state contractors, which has been the prevailing principle since Prof. Chukwuma Charles Soludo took office. This commitment is expected to boost the confidence of contractors and improve the state’s infrastructure development.

The approved projects are expected to improve the lives of Anambra State citizens, boost the state’s infrastructure, and attract investments to the state.
