Enyimba secured a convincing 2-0 victory over Bayelsa United in their NPFL Matchday 4 clash at Yenogoa.

The match saw Enyimba’s Kalu Nweke return to action with a bang, while Chidera scored his first NPFL goal, contributing to Enyimba’s dominance

Enyimba FC who were frustrated at home against Nasarawa United last Sunday took the game to their hosts right at the blast of the whistle as the Coach Stanley Eguma side bossed the game and missing couple of clear chances.

The second half started almost in a similar fashion even as Bayelsa United started growing in confidence with glimpse of attacks but two substitutions midway in the second half by Coach Eguma paid off well when a well tailored inswing cross by Solomon Ogberaghwe was met by one of the substitutes, Chidera Michael glancing it into the net for the opener.

Nweke made sure of the points when he picked up a pass couple of meters away from the box before rifling home a screamer as the insurance goal.

Reacting after the game, Coach Eguma said his team was condemned to seek the three points in Yenogoa after the misfortune at home last weekend. He praised his players for sticking to the game plan and executing perfectly.

“After the draw at home it downed on us to come here for maximum points and the players all resolved to play their hearts out.

“We dominated the game from the beginning to the end although we missed some chances in the first half but in the second stanza it paid off for us and I commend the boys for their commitment and executing the game plan well.

“Bayelsa United also gave a good account of themselves missing some chances too and they are a good side. But we were better today and we got the three points.

In his comment, the stand in captain and scorer of the second goal, Nweke said they had been practicing it in training and that the Gaffer always encouraged them to take shots from outside so he did and he was happy it went in.

Next for the Nigerian giants is a home league game on Sunday against Bendel Insurance at the Enyimba Int’l Stadium, Aba.
