The Head Coach of Enyimba FC, Mr Stanley Eguma has said that winning the 7th.Ifeanyi Ekwueme Tico Select Preseason Tournament win is not the primary focus and does not call for celebrations yet.

According to Coach Eguma, the main objective of participating in the preseason tournament was to assess the team’s quality, identify flaws, and work on areas for improvement.

He emphasized that the tournament provided a valuable opportunity to evaluate his players in game situations, assessing their mentality, reactions, and adaptability to the team’s philosophy and pattern of play.

“It’s an opportunity to assess the team, the players, quality of the team, and flaws and strong points of the players,” he said.

The coach stressed that the team is still in the preparation phase and will continue to work towards the upcoming season. “We are still working, preparing for the season. It’s the beginning, it’s not time for celebrations.”

Eguma thanked the management of Enyimba FC for allowing the team to participate in the tournament and the organizers for providing a platform for teams to assess their preparedness.

“We thank the management of Enyimba FC for giving us the opportunity to participate. We also thank the organizers of the 7th Ifeanyi Ekwueme Tico Select Preseason Tournament.”

Also speaking, the stand-in captain, Joseph Atule described the victory as a good start for the season. “It is a good start for the season. I believe we are going to do when the season starts”.

He enjoined the fans and supporters of Enyimba to have confidence in the team and support them promising that the players are determined to return the club to the continent .

Enyimba in a preseason oriental derby at Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium defeated Rangers International 1-0 to win the 2025 edition of Ifeanyi Ekwueme Tico Select Preseason Tournament.
