The Labour Party’s presidential candidate for the 2023 general election, HE Peter Obi has declared that he would contest for the presidency in next general election in 2027.
Obi who made public in Onitsha earlier today when the LP candidate in the forthcoming Anambra State governorship election, Chief George Moghalu kicked off his campaigns before a mammoth crowd of party faithful, supporters, friends and well-wishers.
Obi, accompanied by key LP and African Democratic Congress (ADC) officials also confirmed that he’s a card carrying member of LP, irrespective of the coalition.
This clarification cleared the doubts earlier being nursed about him going by some confusing public announcement traceable to the embattled camp of Barrister Julius Abure.
The Abure camp had few days ago given him 48hours to formally resign from the LP, in view of the coalition talks he was having with other know stalwarts of other political parties on preparation for 2027 general election.
The Onitsha mega rally was the flag off campaign for fast approaching November 8,2025 Anambra State governorship poll for the LP Governorship candidate, Moghalu and his running mate, Mrs Ifeoma Okaro.
Members of the LP National and State Assemblies attended the event alongside Gov Alex Otti of Abia State and Obi.
Obi in his remarks noted that though Labor Party was key part of the coalition that threw up ADC as the chosen political platform, his membership of the LP remains.
That the LP/ADC relationship was simply for the 2027 election cycle.
He reiterated his determination to contest for the President of Nigeria in 2027.
The National Coordinator of Obedient Movement Yunusa Tanko told the Onitsha rally that a new Nigeria is possible when Peter Obi’s Presidential ambition is realized in 2027.

Moghalu in his address assured the people that he will not disappoint them when entrusted with the mandate of governance of Anambra State on November 8,2025.
But rather to ensure that the well-being of the people is improved upon through good governance.
