AS the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) kicks off the Continuous Voter Registration exercise in Anambra State, ahead of the November 8, 2025 Governorship election, the Managing Director of Anambra State Civic and Social Reformation Office (ANCISRO), Chuka Nnabuife has urged all adults and eligible voters in the state to rise to their civic responsibility.

Speaking during an interview with newsmen in his office, Sir Chuka emphasised the importance of the exercise to the people and the state noting that the 2025 gubernatorial election is more than a routine democratic process.

“It is a crucial civic responsibility both for the ushering or retention of a government the people desire and for the correct demographic head count of the peopl,” Nnabuife said.

He further on Ndi Anambra to note: “Your vote is your power and your voice in shaping the future of your beloved State.

“This is a crucial moment for all to exercise their civic duties – no sitting on the fence, no excuses. Governance begins with the ballot and real change starts with you,” Sir Chuka pleaded

He urged every eligible voter and those who have just come up to voting age (18 years) to take advantage of the INEC-organised ongoing voter registration and revalidation program in all the wards and polling units across Anambra State. He called for the people to turn out in large numbers for the exercise as well as on the election day.

“Let us prove that Anambra is not just awake but fully active in democratic participation. Show up to be captured for voting, vote wisely on the election day and let your presence be felt positively,” the ANCISRO helmsman said.

Sir Chuka stressed that the upcoming gubernatorial election must be free, fair, transparent and credible. He said his Office is toiling to ensure that it is a process the people will trust, and one that will present results that reflect the people’s will. He added that while INEC has shown capacity in previous elections, their performance should not be taken for granted hence the need for ndi Anambra to encourage the electoral umpire to perform at its best.

He further highlighted the importance of voter registration warning that failure to participate in the electoral process could have legal or civic consequences.

“Every citizen should have a voter’s card and must use it. With what is happening in the country, there may come a time soon, when not voting is seen as an actionable renegation of civic responsibility.

Participating in elections helps strengthen democracy and society as a whole, ” he said.

Asked what could be the consequence of his agency’s and INEC’s initiatives for the poll fail, Nnabuife recalled that the country is becoming very keen on electoral offences and added: “Nigeria is governed by law and Anambra is no exception. What we need is a free, fair and credible election that earns the confidence of the people. That is what true democracy is and that is what our society deserves. That is what ANCISRO is working for.”
