Nigeria Football Federation Executive Board member Aisha Falode has hailed the quality of football displayed in the final of the Women’s President Federation Cup on Saturday.

The former Chairperson of the Nigerian Women Football League, whose passion and professionalism have long driven the game’s growth in Nigeria, lauded both teams for delivering a memorable contest.

“I was very excited to see the high level of play and passion exhibited at the final of the President Federation Cup at the MBJA, Onikan on Saturday. Nasarawa Amazons, you were gallant and fought with incredible heart. And to Rivers Angels, congratulations on your victory. You showed the resilience of champions.”

In a much-anticipated showdown, Rivers Angels, one of Nigeria’s most decorated women’s clubs, came from two goals down to level the match before clinching victory through a penalty shootout.

Falode, a long-time advocate for the women’s game in Nigeria, described the final as a powerful statement of how far women’s football has progressed in the country.

The 2025 President Federation Cup women’s final did more than crown a champion; it reaffirmed the remarkable growth of women’s football in Nigeria.
