The management of Nnamdi Azikiwe University has expressed concern over some Heads of Department and Deans of Faculty collecting unauthorized dues from students, a prohibited practice that has resurfaced despite previous warnings.

According to the management, the dues collected under various guises include the so-called Perculier dues.

Following the development, the management reaffirmed it’s stance against the resurgence of what it described as reproachable practice.

It warned that any staff member found engaging in such extortion henceforth shall face the disciplinary panel of the institution.

It said the collection of unauthorised levies unfortunately imposes drastic and heavy financial burden on students.

In a memo signed by the Acting Registrar Mr Victor Modebelu, the Management further authorized the Student Union Government to report any instances of such extortion directly to the office of the Vice Chancellor.

All Heads of Department and Deans of Faculty are advised to refrain from such unauthorized levy collection.
