Anambra Government Awards N9 Billion Contracts For Erosion Reclamation, Others

Awka, Anambra State – The Anambra State Executive Council (ANSEC) has approved several contracts worth billions of naira for various infrastructure development projects in the state.

According to a statement by the Commissioner for Information, Dr. Law Mefor, the contracts were awarded during the 11th ANSEC meeting held on June 16, 2025, at the Light House in Awka.

The projects include the construction of access roads within Nwafor Orizu College of Education, Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University, and the rehabilitation of Nya Ranch Road. Other projects are the reclamation of erosion and flood control in Umunze-Umuchu, completion of the Ekwulobia Stadium Complex Country Club, and additional works on the Onitsha Specialist Hospital.

The contracts awarded include, N2,104,421,881.83 for the construction of access roads within Nwafor Orizu College of Education, Nsugbe, awarded to Mid-East Construction Company, N3,500,000,000.00 for the reclamation of erosion, flood control, and construction of a 2.28 km road connecting Umunze and Umuchu, awarded to Saidi Nigeria Limited and N2,653,275,980.74 for the construction of 3.9 km access roads within Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University, Uli Campus, awarded to Anyi Supreme Industries Ltd.

Others are N528,622,393.14 to complete the ongoing construction of the Ekwulobia Stadium Complex Country Club, awarded to Crystal Dove Construction Company Ltd and 718,681,767.01 for the renovation of dilapidated buildings at Nwafor Orizu College of Education, Nsugbe, awarded to Biggstruct Engineering Ltd, Zonel Projects Ltd, and Euro Energy Resources.

The government also approved N55,176,294.00 for the installation of road signs, rumble strips, and flashing caution lights at selected locations across the state.

In addition to the infrastructure projects, the government announced plans to retrain drivers in the state and blacklist those who commit major traffic violations.

The government also reiterated its commitment to the Anambra Rebirth Programme, aimed at restoring Igbo values of integrity and hard work.
