Opobo Nkoro Administrator Takes Swift Action To Improve School Facilities, Praises Teachers’ Dedication

The Administrator of Opobo Nkoro Local Government Area, Senibo Frederick Apiafi, has directed the immediate provision of electricity and toilet facilities to the senior secondary section of Community Secondary School, Opobo Town.

Senibo Apiafi, who gave the directive when he visited the school in Opobo Town, assured that though he has limited time, under his watch, the council would do whatever it can to alleviate the challenges faced by the people of the area, especially school children whom he described as the future hope of the government.

The Administrator also directed the immediate deployment of personnel of Opobo Nkoro internal security to man the senior secondary school premises as to forestall any further incidents of burglary and stealing within the school vicinity.

The administrator used the opportunity to express gratitude to the teachers of the various secondary schools in the area in the way they courageously handled the emergency situation brought about by the late writing of the English Language paper of WASC examination, commending them all for their resilience and show of love.

In conducting the Administrator and his entourage round the school, the Principal of Community Secondary school (Senior section), Opobo Town, Mrs Lovelyn Tams Oko-Jaja, who thanked the administrator for his proactive response in coming to the aid of the teachers and students of senior secondary schools in Opobo Nkoro Local Government Area on that fateful day of writing the WASC examination late in the night, especially the palliative to affected students.

Mrs. Tams Oko-Jaja also used the medium to enumerate some challenges faced by the school, imploring him to speedily come to their aid.

It would be recalled that on the day that the English Language paper of the 2025 WASC examination was written, the examination started very late, and the administrator swiftly directed for the deployment of security agencies to the various schools, while gunboat accompanied examination officers to communities of the Local Government Area that can only be accessed by boats, and palliative sent to all students writing the examination to reduce the effects of the trauma and stress caused them.

In another development, the Administrator of Opobo Nkoro Local Government Area, Senibo Frederick Apiafi, has expressed his desire to partner the National Youth Service Corps members in the area to build a seamless Local Government administration.

Senibo Apiafi, who made the expression during a meeting with the Corps members in Opobo Town recently , described them as critical stakeholders who have roles to play towards building the area they are sent to.serve.

Senibo Apiafi informed that the Corps members would be part of the different committees the council is to set up so that they can integrate and bond properly with people of the area.

Senibo Apiafi, however, advised the Corps members to be non – partisan , even as he urged them to bring their experience and knowledge towards the development of the area, promising that council will give them stipends to augment whatever that come to them.

The Administrator, Senibo Frederick Apiafi, was accompanied by principal officers of the council, including Mrs. Obed Whyte, Director of Education of the Council.
