The Alelluia Football Academy of Awka on Sunday, 13th April, 2025 defeated Rangers International FC Academy by a lone goal in a friendly encounter played at the Capital City primary school (Ayom Na Okpala) pitch, Amaenyi Awka.

Mario Ozoilo’s belter in the 78th minute of the match was enough to give the capital city side a deserved win against a spirited Rangers Int’l FC side under the tutelage of Coach Ejike Uzoenyi.

Alleluia FA under the watchful eyes of Coach Ebuka Okoye took their pound of flesh having lost in the reverse fixture by the same score line in an encounter played at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium last month. The Awka based side had before this time a fortnight ago played out a one all draw against No Skin Pain FA at the FCIU International Stadium, Ozubulu-Nnewi.

Reacting after the match, Coach of Alelluia FA, Coach Okoye described the win as a deserved one judging by the chances created by his boys in the pulsating encounter. The tactician informed that Alelluia FA is still a work in progress as the aim to raise the next generation of super stars who will go on to play at the top league level in the land and eventually feature for the cadet side of Nigeria’s National team.

Coach Okoye thanked the fans for turning out in their numbers during the friendly clash played on Palm Sunday morning while promising that the team will continue to play good football at all times and equally entertain her teeming fans.

On his part, the Proprietor of the Academy, Elochukwu Nwosu, stated that the match was an opportunity for the team and technical crew to expose the young lads to active competitive football as well as continue in its quest to build a solid team capable of competing in inter state and national academy competitions when the opportunity comes up.

The football administrator thanked the supporters and fans of the football academy as well as the Awka All Stars FC for their immense support by showing up for the entertaining encounter. He also promised to expose the team to more games in the near future.

Other highlights of the encounter was presentation of Rangers Int’l FC original jersey to the Proprietor of Alelluia FA, Elochukwu Nwosu by Rangers’ main team assistant coach, Okey Odita and group photo sessions between the two teams.
