Comrade Anthonia Chukwudi Emerges UNIZIK SSANU Chairperson

Comrade Anthonia Chinenyenwa Chukwudi has emerged as the Chairperson of Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU), Nnamdi Azikiwe University Chapter at the 5th quadrennial congress of the association held on Tuesday, 25th March, 2025 at the Multipurpose Hall of the institution.

Mrs Chukwudi emerged unopposed with a total of 300 votes from the peaceful and seamless electoral process. Ofuebe Amuluchenna Obierika emerged as the Vice-Chairperson polling a total of 139 votes to defeat Ifeyinwa Judith Ozoemena who polled 119 votes and Augustine Chinagorom Anugoh who polled 65 votes.

Telvin Chifum Anyali emerged as the Secretary polling a total of 208 votes to see off Ifeyinwa Uzoma Anyaegbunam who secured 134 votes. Victor Ohis emerged unopposed as Assistant Secretary polling 311 votes while Tochukwu Prince Akujobi was voted in as the Treasurer beating Uzoamaka Joy Ejidike who polled 115 votes and Emmanuel Chukwunonso Okoye-Ogbalu who recorded 88 votes.

The position of Public Relations Officer (PRO) went to Kingsley Chinedu Nzewi who was unopposed scoring 283 votes. Edith Ogoma Obah emerged as the Financial Secretary unopposed with 291 votes. The position of Trustee went to Kingsley Nnamdi Aniakor who polled 306 votes, Women Coordinator position went to Modesta Onyinyechi Ubanwa who polled 306 votes while Onyebuchi Nwafor was elected unopposed as Ex-officio polling a total of 310 votes.

In her acceptance speech, the new Chairperson, Mrs Chukwudi thanked the SSANU members for the trust reposed in her by their votes to lead the association. Mrs Chukwudi called for support and cooperation from the association’s members toward moving the body to a greater height.

The congress also featured a courtesy visit to UNIZIK Acting Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Joseph Ikechebelu by the National officers led by the SSANU Caretaker Committee Chairperson, Comrade Nnamdi Osondu and his team.

There was also administering of oath of office on the newly elected EXCO and dissolution of the Comrade Nnamdi Osondu’s led caretaker committee performed by SSANU National President, Comrade Mohammed Ibrahim Haruna represented by the National Internal Auditor, Comrade Timnah Nathan Rimdap.

Also present during the congress were the association’s National Vice-president (South East), Comrade Okey Animba as well the Chairman, Credentials and Electoral Committee, Comrade Engr. David Okeke.
