The South East Elders Alliance For Tinubu (SEEAT ’27) with membership across the five South Eastern states has endorsed President Bola Asiwaju Tinubu to be re-elected for a second term in office saying that Ndigbo have witnessed a lot of changes in the favor of the Igbo race in the present administration.
SEEAT ’27 gave the endorsement listing 10 reasons why Tinubu deserves a second term during a press briefing at Jesse Hotels & Suites, Awka shortly after their Inauguration daring those who wish to remove him to give their reasons.
Briefing newsmen, the SEEAT ’27 National Coordinator, Hon Engr. Humphrey C. Nsofor said that after extensive consultation on the political development as it affects Ndgbo, the South East Elders Alliance for TINUBU ’27 decided to pin their tent with President Asiwaju Tinubu without further distractions.
According to Nsofor, for a while now, Ndigbo have witnessed a lot of changes in favor of our race with some of Tinubu’s appointments. He appointed our people as members of the Armed Forces Ruling council, the Chief of Naval Staff, Head of the Correctional Services, South East development commission. We must remember that the plan to fill two Muslim candidates during the last election was to punish us but God turned it in our favour.
“Those who wish to remove him should be proud enough to give their reasons, because it’s no longer business as usual for those who used to say that the country belonged to them. Tinubu has singlehandedly destroyed the exclusive system for some to brag over their supremacy, every Nigeria now has equal opportunities.
“We are saying that in the areas of insecurity, he has proven that it can be handled. Our economy is improving gradually, and one may ask, if those who have destroyed the nation have all done two terms, why should President Tinubu who is doing well not be re-elected.
“The South East Elders Alliance for TINUBU ’27 will mobilize our elders from the south south, South West, the middle Belt and Other progressive elders from north east and north west to ensure President Tinubu returns for a second term in office.
“We stand with Tinubu strongly and we shall defend our country from those who wish to destroy it. Those engaging in economic sabotage, fuelling insecurity, banditry, kidnapping among others which are all tools to pull down the government, must stop because we are now wiser and have known better.
“However, I am also a firm believer in the power of national unity and the need to support leaders who prioritize the development of all regions, regardless of ethnic or religious affiliations. President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, a Yoruba man from the South West, is one such leader.
“Since assuming office, President Tinubu has demonstrated a commitment to inclusive governance and has taken concrete steps to address the challenges facing the South East.
“Here are 10 compelling reasons why the South East should rally behind President Tinubu: And on this note we are convinced that there are so many reasons to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for a second term in office.
“Firstly, Establishment of the South East Development Commission (SEDC). President Tinubu’s signing of the bill establishing the South East Development Commission (SEDC) is a historic move that signals a new era of development for the region. The SEDC aims to address the region’s long-standing infrastructural and environmental challenges, such as poor road networks, erosion, and inadequate power supply. This commission represents a commitment to long-term growth and a recognition of the significance of the South East to Nigeria’s future. It is a step toward healing the historical wounds of the past and providing the region with the tools needed for economic recovery.
“Secondly,, Launch of the Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) Initiative. It is a game-changer for the South East, a region heavily reliant on transportation for commerce. The initiative aims to power the transportation sector with CNG, reducing costs and curbing inflation. President Tinubu stated that this initiative will save over 2 trillion naira monthly by reducing the importation of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) and Automotive Gas Oil (AGO). Additionally, the distribution of one million low-cost or free conversion kits to commercial vehicles will significantly reduce transportation costs by approximately 60%. For a region like the South East, where traders and businesses depend on affordable transportation, this initiative is a lifeline that will boost economic activities and reduce the cost of doing business.
“Thirdly, Ongoing Major Infrastructural Projects in the South East which include:
the Enugu-Port Harcourt Expressway: The rehabilitation and reconstruction of the 56.10-kilometre Umuahia–Aba section of this critical road are set for completion by June 2025. This project will improve connectivity and boost commerce in the region.
“Also, the Eastern Rail Line: The Tinubu administration has completed the Port Harcourt to Aba section of the Eastern rail line and has committed to completing the entire line connecting Port Harcourt to Maiduguri. This rail project will enhance transportation of goods and people, reducing the cost of doing business.
” Anambra Basin Development: President Tinubu has pledged to support the development of the Anambra Basin, which is estimated to hold up to 1 billion barrels of oil and 30 billion cubic feet of gas. This development will position the South East as a significant energy hub, creating jobs and attracting investments.
” Fourthly, Digital and Creative Enterprises Empowerment. President Tinubu’s focus on youth empowerment aligns with the aspirations of Igbo youth. Initiatives such as the Nigerian Youth Academy and the National Youth Talent Export Programme are designed to create millions of IT and technical jobs. Additionally, the Skill-Up Artisans Programme will equip young people with the skills needed to thrive in the digital economy. By investing in the youth, President Tinubu is ensuring that the South East remains a hub of innovation and creativity.
“Fifthly, Livelihood Support and Nano-Grants. The Tinubu administration has released over N570 billion to the 36 states, including those in the South East, to expand livelihood support for citizens. This funding has already benefited 600,000 nano-businesses through nano-grants. For a region known for its entrepreneurial spirit, these grants provide much-needed capital for small businesses to grow and thrive.
“Other reasons include:Signing of the National Minimum Wage Law which raises the minimum wage to N70,000 per month. It is a significant step toward improving the standard of living for workers in the South East.
“Student Loans and Educational Support:
Education is a priority for the South East. Tinubu’s administration has processed N45.6 billion for student payments and allocated an additional N50 billion each for student loans and the Credit Corporation. The student loan scheme will provide financial assistance to students from the South East, enabling them to pursue higher education without the burden of financial constraints.
“Increased Oil Production and Foreign Direct Investments: Under President Tinubu’s leadership, Nigeria’s oil production has increased to 1.61 million barrels per day, boosting the nation’s revenue and economic stability. Additionally, the administration has secured two Foreign Direct Investments (FDIs) worth over $500 million. These investments will create jobs and stimulate economic growth, benefiting regions like the South East that are eager for industrial and economic development. By attracting foreign investments, President Tinubu is positioning Nigeria as a global economic player, with the South East as a key beneficiary.
“Also, Tinubu’s Vision for a United and Prosperous Nigeria. He understands that the strength of Nigeria lies in its diversity and that no region can be left behind if the nation is to achieve its full potential. By prioritizing inclusive governance and addressing the unique challenges of the South East, President Tinubu is building a Nigeria where every region has the opportunity to thrive.
“Finally, Investing in the Future of the South East: By supporting President Tinubu, the South East is investing in its own future. His administration’s policies and initiatives are designed to unlock the region’s potential, create jobs, and improve the quality of life for its people. By rallying behind President Tinubu, the South East can play a pivotal role in shaping Nigeria’s future and ensuring that our region remains a key driver of national development.
“Make A Commitment. As an Igbo man from the South East, I am proud to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu because his leadership offers hope, progress, and inclusivity,” Nsofor stated.
Moreso, National Chairman Board of Trustees Chief Innocent Obi(Anambra State), National Director Media& Communication, Nze Amaechi Okolie Sadique(Enugu State), Prof. Damian Opata, Prof Ifeanacho Orajaka in their separate speeches called for the support and re-election of President Tinubu describing him as a man of capacity and a detribalized Nigerian who fought terrorism, Boko Haram, Bandits to boost security saying that now South Easterners and others can travel at any part of the country for businesses.
Anambra State SEEAT ’27 Woman Leader, Hon. Mrs Obiamaka Enechukwu described Tinubu as a gender sensitive President who gave more females political appointments because he understands that women carry out their duties with more passion and commitment urging more women to support Tinubu’s re-election in 2027.
Also, a Researcher with the Center for Innovation, Ethics and Development, Chief Chris Igwe lauded President Tinubu for implementing the Local Government Autonomy policy by sending allocation direct to LG authorities saying that it would foster even and grassroot development. Igwe advised citizens to hold both the LGA Chairmen and their Deputies accountable urging ICPC and EFCC to monitor any form of misappropriation of allocation funds at each level of government.
