The contractor handling the fence project of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Mr Ola Junaid has assured that the project will be ready before the forthcoming Convocation ceremony of the University.

Speaking to Newspathfinder at the site of the project, the contractor while thanking the university management for giving his firm the opportunity said that the project is almost eighty percent completed.

“As you can see the level of work achieved so far within a period of less than 3 weeks is close to almost 80 percent. I assure you by next week we’ll complete 90+ percent because the difficult aspect of the work has been handled to the glory of God. All the beams are already on ground, the beams are the ones we’ll cast, the ones you’re seeing on the ground 450×900 degrees”,

“The beams help a lot because the whole terrain is a waterlogged area. So with this, after 5 coach again you have chaining. There’s chaining, there’s iron in between the pillar and the partition. With that I can tell you that for years and years to come Unizik will not think of anything like fencing”, he said

Mr Junaid waved off the fear of the fence being vandalized again as the former fence was literally brought down by scavengers saying that the current fence will have security features that will make such ventures difficult.

“And as for people vandalizing it, as you can see if you were not here when they started, you will not know that there is iron inside and also there will be a walkway behind of about 1.5m back, 450 above the ground level that will be for the security men so that they can patrol at night”,

“Actually, when you look at it during both rainy and dry season it is not easy for security operatives to move around the fence. So that walkway will help the security men for surveillance and also the fence will have light. When there is light in the school the fence will have light and if there is no light there will be solar. So with that I think the school is more than 100 percent okay in terms of security”, he assured.
