There is reasonable progress in the upgrade of some of the sporting facilities identified for competitions by the Organisers of the Maiden Niger Delta Sports Festival

One of the turning points in the ongoing facelift of the facilities has been the effective deployment of Engineers and other support workers to venues.

Speaking to journalists, Chairman of the Facility and Transport subcommittee, Dr Ochuko Igbigbisie said that the major work is the refurbishment of the Uyo Township Stadium Swimming Pool.

According to him, the Olympic size 9-lane pool has many of the Technical facilities vandalised.

“The work started with the draining of the water to ascertain the condition of the floor”, Igbigbisie informed.
