The President and Founder of Campos FC of Owerri, Mr. Patrick Ikechukwu Osuji, has commended the Chairman of the Anambra State Football Association (ANSFA), Chief Chikelue Iloenyosi for the initiative of holding an Under-17 football scouting programme.
Recall that Chief Iloenyosi brought the National U-17 handler, Coach Manu Garba and the Team Coordinator, Bello Garba Gusau to Anambra state for the two day programme
Mr. Osuji made the remarks during an interaction with Sports Journalists on Thursday, 23rd January, 2025 at the Awka City Stadium, venue of the two-day talent hunt and player’s selection programme for the Under-17 National Team.
The Proprietor of the Imo State based club described the talent hunt programme as a welcome development to the state and the South East Geopolitical zone which will be very beneficial to teenagers and youths of the state and beyond who are talented footballers striving to play at the highest level of the beautiful game in the land and beyond.
The founder of the club averred that Manu Garba’s job is cut out as there are arrays of footballing stars in the state and the South East Geopolitical zone. The top football administrator also disclosed that he established Campos Football Club and Academy because of his passion for the game and the primary aim of setting up the club is to take the youths off the street and unearth footballing talents.
Osuji said: “I must commend the Chairman of the Anambra State Football Association, Chief Chikelue Iloenyosi for this feat of bringing the National U-17 Coach, Manu Garba to Anambra State and the South East zone to scout for football talents. It is unique and a great opportunity for young footballers in the state to play in front of this seasoned coach and possibly make it by playing for the national team.
“This is in line with our vision of setting up Campos FC to discover and nurture football talents in the zone, bring them to limelight and ensure that our youths are engaged meaningfully both now and the future. This is our primary aim and that is why my charges are part of this scouting program holding in Awka,” Osuji said.
Osuji advised the participants to be focused, dedicated and give their very best on the pitch as this is a rare opportunity for them. He admonished them to be disciplined and shun all forms of social vices in order to achieve their dreams of becoming successful professional footballers.
