… Conducts Training on Modern Electrical Installation, Distributes Startup Tools

Driving the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Ahmed Bola Tinubu’s administration, aimed at creating job and employment opportunity for Nigerian youths, the National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI) has trained 100 youths of Ebonyi State on Modern Methods of Electrical Tools Installation and Maintenance.

The 5-day empowerment programme which commenced on 26th November, 2024 featured training sessions on modern electrical wiring, appliance repair, solar power installation, electrical panel maintenance, safety inspections, upgrading electrical systems amongst others.

Speaking at the closing ceremony of the 5-day training in Abakalili, Ebonyi State, the Executive Vice Chairman/Chief Executive of NASENI, Mr. Khalil Suleiman Halilu, represented by the Coordinating Director, Finance and Account, NASENI, Mr. Ibrahim Baba Dauda, said by paying particular attention to job creation through skills acquisition training, NASENI is contributing to economic growth, enabling environment and poverty alleviation and making way for socio-economic development and safe and brighter future for our people.

According to him, “Statistics show that building construction is on the rise and there is high demand for quality electrical and maintenance skilled workforce which is why we embarked on this training. This is the third skill acquisition training in the South-East zone. The first two took place in Anambra State on solar installation and maintenance and Imo State on this same topic.”

“Also, it is imperative to let you know that we draw inspiration from the President’s Renewed Hope 8-point Agenda, which focuses on Ending Poverty, Economic Growth, Job Creation, Food Security, Access to Capital, Improved Security, Enabling Environment, Rule of Law, and the Fight against Corruption.”

He added that “asides from job creation, the programme has ensured employability and created economic opportunities for the youths to meet industry demands. It has also improved safety and compliance, energy efficiency, skill development, community development, technology advancements, global opportunities and personal growth, amongst others.

“It is heart-warming to note that the 100 Ebonyi youths who are here today, participated in this training. These youths, our future leaders, will go forward from here to embark on a journey that will transform their lives and empower them to contribute to the growth and development of our nation generally and specifically Ebonyi State”, he affirmed.

He, however, urged the beneficiaries to make judicious use of the startup kits handed over to them in building fulfilling career and also train others. He urged them not to sell off the kits as money in their account is just a pointer, but the skill they have will give them identity.

In his address, the Executive Governor of Ebonyi Sate, Hon. Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, represented by the Commissioner for Skill Development and Job Creation, Hon. Elija Okwu Oko Udu, said that Ebonyi state is guided by the renewed hope Agenda and the People’s Charter of Needs, which prioritizes education, skill development, and employment creation.

He added that the training and youth empowerment carried out in collaboration with NASENI and Ebonyi State Government is a clear manifestation of Ebonyi vision to create opportunities for every Ebonyi youth to succeed and contribute meaningfully to society.

“Through this workshop, we are not only training 100 young men and women but also equipping them with startup tools to kickstart their careers. This investment is a declaration of trust in your ability to lead, innovate and inspire. Skill acquisition is not just about individual growth, it is about building resilient commitment and robust economy. A skilled youth population is the bedrock of our state’s progress, and today, we reaffirm our commitment to empowering them”, he stated.

Calling the beneficiaries to action, he stressed that the training and tools they received are not just for their benefits, rather they are for transformation.

“Use them to build business and career that inspire hope and create value, uphold excellence in your craft, demonstrating the impact of this initiative, serve as ambassadors of this programme, spread its benefits across families, communities and beyond. Your success will not only improve your lives but also elevate Ebonyi state and contribute to Nigeria’s progress”, he emphasized.

The youths were handed over startup kits containing, Face shield, Ear muff, hard hat, coverall, insulate glove, safety boot, safety eye google, fishing tape, cardless hammer drill, measuring tape, wire striper, non-contact tester, Allen wrench set, wireless inspection camera and conduit bender among other modern electrical tools.
