The National President of Anambra State Association of Town Unions (ASATU) Youth Wing, Comrade Ken Okoli, on Tuesday, honoured a chieftan of the All Progressive Congress (APC), High Chief JohnBosco Onunkwo, with a community youth development award .

Speaking to journalists after receiving the award, presented at Dora Akwuyili Women Development Centre, Awka, Onunkwo appreciated the organisers for recognising his humanitarian effort mostly in the area of youth development.

Promising not to rest on the kind gesture for which he was honoured, especially in the area of youth development, he explained that he has been doing it for the past 17-years through his JohnBosco Onunkwo Foundation.

“I have been in the advocacy for a better Nigeria and which is why I was also honoured as the grand commandant of all the uniform youths in Anambra State. I am a man of my words. I am a capacity of my own. I believe in humanity, helping the vulnerable people, helping the youth to be self-reliant, empowerment, upliftment and togetherness. The gesture is geared towards a better Nigeria.

“I appreciate the ASATU Youth for recognising my humanitarian effort in the area of youth development. However, I would not rest on the successes for which I am just honoured today, January 14th, 2025.

“I am very grateful that my modest efforts in empowering Anambra youths is gaining more recognition. So, for me and my foundation, the award is a mark that we are doing the right thing at the right time,” Chief Onunkwo said.

He also commended the youth from Aguata LGA for nominating him for the recognition.

Earlier, the National President of ASATU Youth Wing, Comrade Ken Okoli, said the award was organised by the youths to appreciate those who have in one way or another contributed to the development of their various communities.
