The Federal Ministry of Power is planning to spend N8 billion in 2025 to educate Nigerians on the importance of paying their electricity bills promptly.

According to the Minister of Power, Chief Adebayo Adelabu, this initiative aims to address issues like power theft and encourage citizens to view the power sector as a national asset that requires collective protection

The ministry plans to use various media channels, including social, digital, and print media, to reach Nigeria’s vast population of over 200 million people.

Chief Adelabu emphasized that many Nigerians need to be re-educated on the importance of paying their electricity bills regularly and avoiding power theft.

He said that the proposal is part of the ministry’s efforts to improve the power sector and ensure that citizens are well-informed about their responsibilities regarding electricity usage and payment.

“By allocating a significant budget for this initiative, the government is demonstrating its commitment to addressing the challenges facing the power sector”, he said
