Like Ijele masquerade with special and unique attributes, the Ijele Sports Club boss, Ferdinand Afam Naza in this interview said that the male football team Ijele FC in NNL will make a unique mark.

Excerpts……

Q. Tell us about the club Ijele Sports Club

A.Ijele Sports Club is a multi-disciplinary sports organization rooted in the cultural and athletic heritage of Nigeria. The club encompasses men’s and women’s football teams, basketball teams, table tennis, badminton teams, and individual athletes, fostering a comprehensive approach to sports development. With its flagship men’s football team competing in the Nigeria National League (NNL), Ijele Sports Club is dedicated to excellence on and off the field.

Q. What is the motivation behind the establishment of the club?

A.Ijele Sports Club was birth from the idea to establish a community owned multi-sports club modeled to clubs like Bayern Munich, Real Madrid, Barcelona, e.t.c.

It was established to nurture talents across various sports, provide a platform for young athletes to achieve their potential, and promote unity through sports. It is driven by a vision to inspire communities, celebrate cultural heritage, and contribute to the growth of sports in Nigeria, particularly at the grassroots level.

Q. What is your plan for the team?

A.The plan for Ijele Sports Club is multifaceted. For the football team, we aim to establish a strong squad capable of competing at the highest level. This involves investing in quality coaching, recruiting talented players, and building a robust support system. Beyond football, the goal is to strengthen all departments within the club, provide opportunities for young athletes, and develop state-of-the-art facilities to sustain excellence across sports.

Q. What is the target of the club in their first attempt in NNL?

A.In our inaugural season in the NNL, our primary target is to solidify our presence as a competitive team. We aim to finish among the top teams in our group, setting the stage for eventual promotion to the NPFL. This includes prioritizing discipline, teamwork, and consistent performance to build a reputation of credibility and determination.

Q. How do you intend to attract support for the team with the presence of Rangers in Enugu?

A.While Rangers holds historical significance in Enugu, Ijele Sports Club offers a unique vision that integrates cultural pride, inclusivity, and innovation. We plan to engage the youth through grassroots initiatives, organize community-focused events, and promote an exciting, family-friendly match-day experience. By offering an inclusive platform across multiple sports, Ijele Sports Club will capture the interest of a broader audience and create a loyal fan base.

6. Your word to football followers in Enugu?

A.To all football and sports enthusiasts in Enugu, Ijele Sports Club is here to celebrate our culture, passion, and unity through sports. Your support is vital to our journey, and we promise to give our best to make you proud. Join us as we build a legacy of excellence and inspire the next generation of athletes. Together, we can make history.
