The need for Better Education Service Delivery For All was the focus of a three-day training workshop organised for Planning Research and Statistics staff of ASUBEB headquarter and the 21 Local Government Education Authorities by the Anambra State Universal Basic Education Board, ASUBEB Awka.

Addressing the participants, the Executive Chairman, ASUBEB, Awka, Dr Vera Nkiru Nwadinobi described the Installation and Utilisation of BESDA Attendance Management Information System, BAMIS training held at ASUBEB Headquarters, Awka as a
milestone in harnessing technology for improved
educational outcomes.

She noted that integrating technology into education has become the global practice in this information and communication technology driven age.

The ASUBEB boss extolled the State Governor, Prof. Charles Chukwuma Soludo, CFR, for his unalloyed commitment in transforming the education sector which made Anambra State a beneficiary of BESDA intervention fund, adding that his resolve to create a digital tribe in the State has resulted in a massive positive turnaround in learning outcomes of Anambra children.

According to Dr. Nwadinobi, the essence of the training workshop was to equip the participants with requisite skills to use educational Apps in enhancing digital literacy among staff and educators, enhance attendance tracking and monitoring for schools and workplaces.

Other benefits of the workshop was to encourage punctuality and discipline, bridge the digital divide by ensuring access to technology for all categories of learners; and foster a 21st century learning environment.

A resource person from the Universal Basic Education Commission, UBEC, Dr. Akila Kayit guided the participants through the interactive training session on the utilization of BAMIS App, while Mr. Saleh Usman, also from UBEC, charged the participants to apply the knowledge gained from the workshop and most importantly step down the training to teachers for a better service delivery.

In their respective remarks, the Board Secretary, Lady Loveline Mgbemena and the Acting Director, Planning, Research and Statistics, PRS, Mrs Henrietta Muo expressed appreciation to the ASUBEB Chairman, Dr. Nwadinobi for her doggedness in bringing innovations to basic education in the State.

The highlight of the training workshop was the distribution of tablets supplied through UBEC BESDA funds to the participants to enable them to put their knowledge into practice.
