Victor Osimhen tonight with a 81st minute header helped Nigeria to come from behind to equalise 1-1 against hard fighting Benin Republic in the Group D of the 2025 AFCON qualifying series.

The team had missed a lot of chances and conceded a goal in the 15th minute courtesy of Benin defender Mohamed Tijani  who scored his first international goal keeping hope alive for the Benin side that gave the super Eagles a record world Cup qualifying defeat.

But the Victor Osimhen’s header helped Nigeria navigate the rivers of embarrassment.

Super Eagles with the results have won the group D with eleven points and maintained their unbeaten run under stand-in Coach Austin Eguavoen.

They will wrap up their qualifying campaign when they welcome Rwanda to Uyo on Monday. Rwanda suffered a home loss 0-1 to Libya earlier today in Kigali.
