Satisfied with the peaceful conduct of Local Government election in Anambra State last weekend, the President General, PG, Anambra State Markets Amalgamated Traders’ Association, ASMATA, Chief Humphrey Anuna has commended Governor Chukwuma Soludo and described him as a true Patriot and champion of democracy.
Making this disclosure after his assessment of the conduct of the chairmanship and councillorship elections in the 21 local Government Areas and 326 electoral wards in the State, Chief Anuna, also paid glowing tribute to
the Anambra State Independent Electoral Commission (ANSIEC), security agencies and the electorate for their tremendous efforts which according to him led to the peaceful and transparent election.
“This is another way of Mr Governor delivering on his promises of his first day in office, before now the governor has developed all the Council Areas by building infrastructures like roads to all the local governments and ensured the functionalities of all the local Government Council secretariat,” he stated..
In a press release signed by Comrade Peter Okala, State Director of ASMATA APGA Support Group, on behalf of the ASMATA PG, the ASMATA boss also congratulated the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, for emerging victorious in the said peaceful election which has now taken democracy to the grass root for rapid infrastructural development.
“Generally this is the only genuine action towards restoring the third tier of government which has remained moribund in the last two decades,” recalling that it was former Governor Peter Obi who tried to conduct local Government Council election eleven years ago.
“That was only few months towards the end of his second tenure in office, but here comes a government with a genuine desire to lay a solid democratic foundation at the grass root, doing it after the first two years in office which shows that this democratic practice in the 21’Council areas and 326 electoral Wards in Anambra State has finally come to Stay.
“The entire traders in Anambra State who are the greatest beneficiaries of all the infrastructural development by the Solution Government in Anambra State would remain greatful to the Governor for this singular act,” he affirmed.
The elected Executive Council Chairmen and ward Councilors are not left out as Anuna extended his congratory messages to them for emerging victorious and pledged to synergize with them using all the traders’ instrumentalities
He called on the opposition Political Parties in Anambra State to Support the only Government that has shown Sincerity of Purpose in all facets of governance in Anambra State, from Agricultural development to Education, Jobs creation, prompt payment of salaries to workers and pensioners , youths empowerment, roads infrastructures, bridges and Flyovers, free education and antenatal for pregnant women, among others.
The President General promised to mobilize traders to replicate the feat come 2025 as according to him the only reward for a good work is another opportunity to serve.
