It’s expected to be a carnival atmosphere today Friday August 30, 2024 as the grand finale of the 6th edition of Ifeanyi Ekwueme TICO/SELECT Preseason Football Tournament holds at the Pa Ngele Stadium Abakaliki, Ebonyi State.
The finale which kicks off by 3pm has sent frenzy feelings and exciting mood around the capital city of Abakiliki and it’s environs over the anticipation of the special appearance of Nigeria’s legend and the captain of the Atlanta ’96 Olympic football gold winning team tagged “The Dream Team”, King Kanu ‘Papilo’ Nwankwo.
The TICO/SELECT Organizers reports that the Enyimba FC Digital Chairman who in his playing days won laurels with Iwuanyanwu National (Now Heartland FC), Ajax Amsterdam, Inter Milan, Arsenal, West Brom and Portsmouth will be the special guest of honour at the final which arguably will be his first visit to the arena.
Other side attractions that will add glamour to the final includes the two finalists appearing in a brand new SELECT jersey worth eight hundred thousand naira (N800,000) as well as the presentation of the brand new FIFA look like trophy and individual awards for best player of the tournament, best goal keeper and top scorer awards among others.
The final will see freshers, Great Achievers FC of Enugu taking on 4th edition champions, Apex Krane FC in what promises to be a thrilling encounter.
